Modern vehicle engines use a system of diesel fuel injection referred to as ‘common rail’ this is a system where the fuel injectors are supplied with fuel under extreamly high pressure and then an electrical signal ‘fires’ the injector. As with petrol fuel injectors, diesel fuel injectors are responsible for delivering an exact amount of diesel fuel, at high pressure, with precision timing.
Contamination in the common rail diesel fuel injector, caused by even the most minute foreign particle can lead to your diesel common rail injector to fail or perform below stringent specifications.
Common rail diesel injectors are high precision, complicated fuel delivery components, and if any part of them becomes worn, contaminated or blocked, then the performance of the engine will be greatly reduced.
By far, the main reason diesel fuel injectors fail is because the contamination and deposits from the ‘bio’ element in diesel fuel clogs up the microscopic jets in the nozzle of the diesel injector. This, either stops the injector working completely, or causes it to emit a fuel spray pattern that is less than efficient for proper fuel combustion.
